Introduction

High Fantasy is one of my oldest and most precious loves, as a hobby-subject, a hobject. My introduction to it probably began as a child, when i used to read folk tales in children's books. Eve though I used to read mythologies, fairy tales of a diversified spectrum, it was the English folk tales which most prompted me towards the subject, primarily because of the illustrations of the old English illustrators and the rich, dreamy art of Elves, Gnomes, Fairies, Mountains, Streams and even the peasants, who were dressed in a quite different manner from the poor folks in my own country.

Thugh books gave the initial push, most of the credit however, of drawing me towards fantasy goes to the video games that i started playing as an adolescent. It was by chance, that most of the games that i started playing were either military or historical/fantasy type. That was partly due to the lack of immense financial resources at those times in my country for the middle class, as well as the CD being the most common way of getting a game. I started with Age of Wonders, Heroes of Might and Magic III , Majesty, the Fantasy Kingdom Sim, Diablo 2 amongst the most prominent of the early fantasy oriented games. I also played many indie/arcade, historical and military (and even some sports ones) oriented games but those are a tale for another day.

After being immersed for hours in these audio-visual interactive softwares, i earnestly began to read about the creatures, incidents and magical powers, that i got to know from these. I still remember, Encarta Encyclopedia being one of the earliest sources of all-encomapssing information with me at those times. Then came the expensive books, and finally came the internet and wikipedia. Eventually, when i grew up, entered college, i began to play RPGs (Dragon Age Origins and Icewind Dale being the earliest 2), which marked the culmination of my descent into understanding and exploring fantasy.

Then, beginning in my early 20s,  I began to write. My favorite subject was the diversity of fantasy world and my chosen way of writing was categorization, and cataloguing over prose and poetry. I used to create distinct races, their origins, their military units, their homes and their magical capability. All of this gave me immense pleasure, and a refinement of my efforts into this field is the basic premise of this blog as well. Most of my "Incursions into Fantasy" will be about this, while I reserve the long winded descriptive paragraphs for my "Azure Mountain" project.

To make a long story short and cease my garrulous note, I would like to end by saying, that this stuff can be used to create brilliant games, mostly of TBS, RTS and Simulation genres. So, if you're interested, kindly contact me and we can work something out. Adios!
